1. The tallest tree in the world is a redwood named Hyperion after the greek god of light. It is more than 379 feet tall!
2. These enormous trees start from seeds that are about the same size as tomato seeds!
3. The oldest redwoods are estimated to be more than 2,000 years old, but no one knows for sure.
4. Redwoods grown in many places around the world, but the tallest trees are located in northern California.
5. Redwoods are are so big and live for so long that they support a unique ecosystem in their canopy. Some animals live their whole lives in the redwood canopy and never set foot on the ground!
